Obituary

Yvonne Cecelia Ross Moffett was born on January 21, 1941, in Caroline County, Virginia to the late Viola Ross Rousey and John Maynard Roots.

Yvonne received her education in Caroline County, Virginia and graduated from Union High School in 1961. At the age of 15, she began devoting her life to providing hospitality and residential caretaking services. Throughout her life of service and hospitality, she became a confidant and trusted friend to Ronald Monroe, and to the late Virginia Eager, Mary Adams, and Michael Coghill. For over 20 years, Yvonne also loved working for and alongside the St. Asaph's Episcopal Church in Bowling Green, Virginia especially helping with the "Pancake Supper."

At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ into her life and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Virginia. She was a faithful servant of her church, serving as President of the Sr. Usher Board, member of the hospitality committee, and a proud member of the Heavenly Bound Mass Choir for many years.  Yvonne was a woman of faith, honorably serving her church and the Lord until her health declined, even quoting the 23rd Psalm during her last days.

Yvonne was known as the "life of the party" and had a generous soul. There was never a person she met who she didn't greet with a warm smile. Her hobbies included dancing, gardening, and watching her favorite shows on Animal Planet, Food Network, Hallmark channels, and her daily Soap Operas. One of Yvonne's favorite past times was entertaining family and friends on the "Backroad". She loved to give to charities, read the Bible and daily scriptures, and loving on her kids and grandchildren. She was known for her famous sweet tea which everyone had to have. Later in life, she enjoyed participating in activities and going on trips with the Community Senior Ministry.

Yvonne was preceded in death by three sisters Margie Peatross, Sadie Ross, Nannie Ross and one brother, Lawrence Roane, and one Godchild, Kevin "Peewee" Adams.

Yvonne leaves to cherish a devoted husband of 52 years Romie L. Moffett; three loving and devoted children: Donna Moffett (Clyde), Frederick Moffett (Barbara), Nicole Anderson (Nic); four committed grandchildren Quiana Frye (Thomas), Sierra Lee, Brittany Moffett, and Peyton Foster-Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Thomas Frye Jr., Keyon Frye, and Zaire Daniels; and two grandchildren-in-love Altonia and Alphonso (Vanessa) Garrett, Tre and Aliana. She also leaves to cherish her memory three sisters Dorothy Greene, Beverly Ann Roane, Wilnet Dawdodu, and a dedicated sister, Stacey Burrell (Barry), two brothers Robert Rousey and Maurice Garnett; six brothers-in-law, Thomas Moffett, Willie Moffett (Maria), Edward Moffett (Linda), Jerry Moffett (Shirley), Nathaniel Moffett, and Kenneth Moffett; five sisters-in-law, Lucille Taylor, Minnie Robinson, Mary Gardner (Bobby),Easter Moffett, and Linda Faye Moffett; two loving God children, Stevie Adams (Joyce) and Myrna Adams; two committed nieces Yvette Johnson (Kyle) and Faye Peatross; one devoted nephew Randy Peatross (Robin), and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, friends, classmates, and fur-baby Leah.
