Willie Dell Mosley passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 16, 1928 in Headland, Alabama. She is the beloved daughter of Monroe & Lillie Mae Ward. Willie Dell grew up with her three sisters Elizabeth, Lola Mae, Early Mae, and brother Eddie (Busta); and help raised a cousin and niece Sara & Melrose and nephew Larry Ward. Willie Dell is a "1947" proud graduate of Daniel Payne College where she attended on a basketball scholarship and obtained a degree in education.
Willie Dell moved to Philadelphia and worked as a Nurses Aide and proudly obtained a License Practical Nurse degree while working and raising her kids. She served as a Psychiatric nurse during the early part of her career and as a Geriatric Nurse towards the end of her career. During retirement, she worked as a private duty nurse until her late 80's. She is the proud and loving mother preceded in death by her son Teddy (Daisy) and leave behind two daughters Betty Boone (Les), Dianne Watson, and bonus son Kala Mosley (Nyla), she is the grandmother of four grandchildren, Nashari, Sonya, Rashida, Les and three great-grandchildren, Siani, Rashid and Leslie. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her family was the center of her life, and she gave them the gifts of support, compassion and strength. She was nurturing and gracious, known for welcoming family and friends to her yearly Thanksgiving Dinners. She lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed countless hours at the Casino (her happy place) and forming lasting friendships. Mom lived by the phrase, "Always be a helper," instilling it in us through her actions.
Mom, your restless days are over; sleepless nights have passed. And in our hearts, we truly know you have found peace at last. Your life is a beautiful memory, your absence a silent grief. You now sleep in God's lovely garden, in the sunshine of perfect peace.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday June 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
