Our family circle that was woven with love was broken when our stepfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend, William Rogers Carter was called home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2025, at 12:13am. in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

William Rogers Carter (affectionately known as Rogers) was born as the seventh of eight children to the late Nora and Jerome Carter Sr in Kilmarnock, Virginia on January 14, 1955.

Rogers was educated in the Northumberland County public school system. He furthered his education by attending a culinary school in Blackstone, Virginia.

Rogers was baptized as a member of Jehovah's Witnesses at an early age but recently rededicating his life to God by making Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior.

He always showed genuine compassion, love and respect to all, especially to the sick and elderly. He displayed these same qualities when he relocated to Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was employed for several years at Mary Washington Hospital on Fall Hill Avenue for transport area in the X-Ray Department.

He later changed careers working with his brother Jerome (Ronie) for many, many years at Milford Industrial Park for Gen Star Stone Mix (with several name changes) until he became ill and disabled.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 20 years Joyce Latney Carter, his daughter, Shafara Brown, his sister Viola Williams and his brother, Jerome Carter Jr.

Rogers leaves to cherish his memory Stepdaughters: Vivian "Joann" Latney, Lisa Latney, Willette Baylor and Rose "Roseann" Stith; Grandchildren: Janaesya "Boo", Kyra, Serenity, Cherish and Kentrell, Sierra , Ancil; Great Grandchildren: Sky and Dream; Siblings: Barbara Ann Nails, Mildred Reid, Linda Carter, Deborah Ransmeier, Eddie Carter (Martha); Friends that became family: Arthur and Lou and 2 nieces 1predeceased, 10 nephews, and a host great nieces great nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at  C.W. Edwards  Funeral Home, Inc, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427. Interment will be private.
