On August 17, 2017, Wesley Odell Chapman, received his wings and took flight from his home on earth to his heavenly home at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia with his children and family at his side.
Wesley was born on May 24, 1953 to the late Dennis Odell and Roberta Myers Chapman. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A.P. Young where he attended until his health began to decline. He was a 1972 graduate of Bowling Green Senior High and later moved to Washington D.C. to pursue employment at Washington Hospital Center in food service. He later returned to Bowling Green where he worked at Keller Ladder, White Packing Company, Foreign Domestic, Williamsburg Mill and Caroline County Public Schools.
He leaves cherished memories his children; Wesley V. Young of Washington, D.C., LaWesley D. Foxx ( Mia) of Atlanta, Georgia, Latasha Fox (Chris) of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Lamrshay Fox (Kirk) of Bowling Green, Virginia; 14 grandchildren, Deshawn, Delonte',Marquat,Avante,Wesley, Jr.,Ethan and Kennedy all of Washington,D.C.,Rodney, Jr.,Christopher,Jr.,Shadiamond, Kirk,Jr., Jamarie, Sovenity, and Ellijah all of Virginia, three brothers; Franklin D. Myers (Maxine) of Washington, D.C., Charles D. Chapman of Ruther Glen, Virginia and John Chapman of Fredericksburg, Virginia, four sisters; Bertha Eura of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Bernice Fortune (William) of Stafford, Virginia, Carolyn M. Day (Billy) of Ruther Glen, Virginia and Sarah Y. Chapman of Burlington, North Carolina, one aunt Lucille Myers; one great aunt Margaret Brooks; two sister-in-laws, Cachita Myers and Margaret Myers; a host of nieces one devoted Tiffany Chapman, a host of nephews; a devoted friend, Walter Moore; the mothers of his children; JoAnn Young and Doreen Fox and other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427
Funeral Services will be held 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Caroline Community Center 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Mount Lawn Cemetery, Woodford, Virginia.
