Obituary

Welford "Ted" Boxley was born May 5, 1933 to the late Chisholm and Bettie Boxley. Welford attended the Caroline County Public Schools. Welford confessed his life to Christ and joined St. John Baptist Church at an early age.

Welford entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan.

On September 28, 1953, he married Ethel Childs who preceded him in death. To this union five children were born; two sons, Welford Wayne (Michele) and Deve Boxley; three daughters, Towanda Dancy, Karen Washington (James), and Brigitte Buchanan.

After serving two years in the United States Army, Welford moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1955, where he went to work for Ford Motor Company. In 1972, he left Ford Motor Company and started a successful painting company, Boxley Painting, which was family owned and operated until his failing health forced him to retire. Today, his sons keep the business legacy thriving. Welford enjoyed traveling, fine dining and family gatherings. Fancy cars were his passion.

Welford leaves to cherish his memory, his children, one sister, Lucille Bush (Milton), ten grandchildren, Welford Wayne (Alonda) and Fred Boxley (Shavondee), David Dancy, Harry Anderson (Karonda), Krystal Boxley, Starlette Anderson, Nikyla, Summer and Amari Boxley and Michele Little, (one grandson, Michael Little preceded him in death); fifteen great grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Vera Shoulders, Helen Boxley and Thelma Boxley; three brothers-in-law, Brent Childs, Reginald Minor and Milton Bush; a special friend, Tytee Michell and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 from noon to 1 p.m. at Caroline County Community Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514 followed by a celebration of life at 1 p.m. Burial will be at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580
