Obituary

Walter Franklin Moore, Sr was summoned by the angels to his Heavenly Home on February 14, 2019 at his residence in Bowling Green, Virginia.

"Huncey" as he was affectionately known was born on August 18, 1944 to the late John Andrew Moore, Sr. and Guinnette Inez Claiborne-Moore. He is preceded in death by his sisters; Marjorie Moore and Frances Moore, and his brothers; Willie Moore and John Moore, Jr.

Walter received his education in the Caroline County School System. He graduated in 1962 from Union High School, where he excelled in basketball and baseball, there he set many records. Walter served as a member of the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War. Upon being discharge from the Army, Walter went to work at the Quantico Marine Corp. Base where he retired after twenty plus years of dedicated service.  Walter was also employed by Petro Services in Ruther Glen, Virginia, with over ten years of dedicated service as a security guard...

At an early age, Walter accepted Christ. He joined Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend C.W. Warfield.

Walter loved life. He was truly a man with a heart of gold. He was rarely ever seen without a smile. He enjoyed watching sports, attending youth recreational games, helping others, playing cards, fishing and hunting. Huncey was the "rock" of the family.

He leaves to cherish his memory; one son; Walter Moore, Jr. and his mother Lola Moore; one stepson Demetrique Ferguson; one brother Phillip Moore; two sisters, Lucy Redd and Barbara Moore-Banks; one loving granddaughter, Alajhia Moore; several special nieces, and nephews, and  great nieces and great nephews who he all adored and showered with goodies, also his special friend, Bernard "Bo" Brown and his riding partner, Thomas Coldman.

A viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427. Family will be  receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Caroline Community Services Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be private.
