Vivian "Lucy" Redd was faithfully summoned by the angels to her heavenly home on Monday September 16  at her residence in Bowling Green, Virginia. "Nana"  as she was affectionately known, was born on June 6, 1936 to the late John Andrew Moore Sr. and Guinette Inez Claiborne-Moore. Lucy was the 2nd born of their eight children.

At an early age Lucy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She joined Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C.W. Warfield. She later joined Shiloh Baptist Church where she worshipped and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted.

Lucy was a lifelong resident of Caroline County and received her education in the Caroline County's school system. She graduated from Union High School, where she excelled in basketball and softball. She was employed throughout the County and worked for many years for at  Fort. A.P. Hill Food Service, Kidwells Grocery Store, and also Caroline County Sheriff Department.  Lucy was known for hospitality.  She enjoyed cooking and would whip up a huge meal so that anybody who stopped by would have a plate to eat or a plate to go.  Lucy enjoyed a good phone conversation at any time of the  day or night.  If you needed to know something she was the one who could "catch you up".

Lucy was preceded in death by two sisters; Marjorie and Frances Moore and three brothers; Willie Moore, John Moore, Jr. and Walter Moore.

In August of 1965, Lucy was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life Augustus Nathaniel Redd, who preceded her in death in 2006. From their beautiful union she leaves to cherish her memories, 4 children; Verra Redd of Chesterfield, Virginia, Amanda Manigualt(dedicated and devoted caregiver) of Bowling Green, Virginia ,Ronaldo Redd (Wanda) of South Carolina, and Marquita Redd of Bowling Green, Virginia; One sister Barbara Banks of Fredericksburg, Virginia and one brother Phillip Moore of Fredericksburg, Virginia;  5 grandchildren, Nicholas Peay, Donovan Manigault, Tonaria Redd, Quintae Redd, Jermarcus Sharpe; 8 great grandchildren; sister in law, Evelyn Frye (Raleigh).  She also leaves to cherish several special nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews whom she adored and showered with goodies;  two special friends, Marjorie Peatross,  Sandra Robinson and a dedicated caregiver Denice Lindsey.

A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019  at Shiloh Baptist Church, 127 South Main Street, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wrightsville Road, Bowling Green, Virginia.
