Violet Diane Daniel, affectionately known as "Di" or "Nanny," was born on April 18, 1953, to the late Warrenton and Mary Elizabeth Childs. On April 18, 2025, she entered eternal rest in Ruther Glen, Virginia.

She was a woman of remarkable strength, love, and courage, facing and overcoming numerous medical challenges—including cancer—without ever voicing a complaint. Her name will forever be associated with grace, compassion, and an unwavering spirit, leaving an indelible impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we gather to honor her life, we celebrate the many ways she touched our hearts and the legacy she leaves behind.

Violet accepted Christ at an early age in Caroline County, Virginia, and later moved her membership to W.O.R.D. Church in Penns Grove, New Jersey, under the leadership of Apostle Freddy Washington and Bishop Pamela Washington.

She received her education in the Caroline County Public School system and held various jobs, including at Kellers Wood Products and Days Inn, before dedicating herself fully to her role as a homemaker.

On August 30, 1985, she entered holy matrimony with the late Floyd Lee Daniel, with whom she shared a life of love and companionship.

She took great pleasure in watching her favorite television programs, including WWE wrestling, In the Heat of the Night, The Price Is Right, and especially The Five Heartbeats. Crossword puzzles were one of her favorite pastimes, but above all, she cherished the time spent with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Lee Daniel; her son, Wellington Woolfolk Jr. (Iceman); two sisters, Mary Ruth Anna Roye (Cokie) and Florence Parker; two brothers, Walton Childs (June) and Gene Childs; and her mother-in-law, Irene Daniel.

She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Marion (Tina) Jones (John) and Laverne Childs (Vincent); two stepdaughters, Valerie Daniel Peacock (Edward) and Sandra Daniel; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren; and twenty-seven step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle C. Rock; a brother, Billy Childs; a brother-in-law, Tommy Daniel; four sisters-in-law, Blanche M. Childs, Barbara Childs, Shirley Daniel, and Lydia Boulware; an aunt, Christine Monroe; an uncle, Brent Childs (Ann); two special nieces, April Cooper and Charrie Childs. She also leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

A viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

The Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at New Life Pentecostal Church, 5312 Jericho Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546.

Interment will follow in Reedy Baptist Church Cemetery, 15076 Dry Bridge Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546.
