On Monday, January 3 before the dawn of day, our beloved Victoria "Elizabeth" Jackson went home to be with her Heavenly Father and the love of her life. Elizabeth, as she was so affectionately called, was born on July 26, 1928 in Woodford, Virginia to the late Charlie and Elizabeth Williams. She was blessed in holy matrimony for sixty-six years to the late Reverend Louis T.W. Jackson. She was a graduate of Union High School in Bowling Green, Virginia where she was a star softball player and developed her love for poetry. Louis always teased her that she had to hit a homerun every time she was up to bat because she ran far too slow to make it to first base.

She had the honor of being first lady at both First Baptist Church in Woodford, Virginia and First New Hope Baptist Church in Partlow, Virginia. Elizabeth enjoyed nothing more than caring for and cooking for her family, and inviting guests to dinner after church on Sundays. She would also tell us how everyone wanted her delicious potato salad and pound cake at homecoming. Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who gave generously and unselfishly of herself in service of others . She always said when coming up, she had to help her mother a lot because one sister was "too fragile" and the other was "too young". She demonstrated her love for others by caring for many family members, in-laws, foster children, and neighbors.

A devoted Christian, she made sure her children attended Sunday School and church regularly; no excuses were accepted. She seldom missed a Sunday at church until the COVID-19 pandemic and her recent decline in health. As a member of Long Branch Baptist Church, Elizabeth was a member of the senior choir, served on the missionary, hospitality, and deaconess ministries, taught Sunday school, and participated in Vacation Bible School.

There are not enough words to express all that Elizabeth was and all that Elizabeth did.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Louis T.W. Jackson; four brothers, Charlie, Aubrey, Pierpont, and Franklin Williams; two sisters, Hilda Mae Lewis and Thelma Jackson; one daughter, Renee Arrington; and one grandson, Adrian Nickens.

Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory four devoted children: Charlyne Bryant and Louis "Tommy" Jackson of Woodford, Eva "ED" Williams of Norfolk, and Roderick "Rocky" Jackson (Raynell, a devoted daughter-in-law) of Hustle; one brother, Theodore Williams of Woodford; four sisters in-law: Joyce Watson and Rebecca Brown of Fredericksburg, Essie Williams of Woodford, and Dorothy "Dot" Jackson of Gaithersburg, Maryland; eight grandchildren: Frankie, Tamara, Jamaal, Adam, Chéleah, Charlene, Zachary, and Naiya; three great grandchildren: Alani, JaKiyah, and Adonis; three foster children: Gloria "Birdie" Turner, Cynthia Wright-Chavis, and Renee King; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A walk through viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Long Branch Baptist Church, 14297 Long Branch Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.

Celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the church with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
