Vernon Leon Young, 49, of Richmond, formerly of Caroline County, passed away suddenly Friday, April 3, 2009 at Henrico Doctors' Hospital, Richmond, Virginia.

He is survived by his devoted mother, Gladys M. Young, of Richmond, Virginia; his brother, Edwin E. Young, Jr. and his wife Ruby, of Ruther Glen, Virginia; his sister Brenda Y. Minor and her husband, Percell, of Milford, Virginia, two nieces, two nephews, one God daughter, four aunts,and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009 from noon to 8:00 P.M. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday one hour prior to the service at the Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, April 10, 2009 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 21795 Mattaponi Trail, Shumansville, VA 22550 with Pastor Michael P. Parker officiating and the Rev. Kenneth A. Davis giving the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
