Vanessa Rose Shepherd-Baylor was born on September 13, 1957 in Fredericksburg, Virginia She gained her heavenly wings on October 14, 2019.

She joined church at an early age and was a faithful member until her health began to fail. She was joined in holy matrimony to Phillip Baylor in 1983.

Vanessa was educated in Caroline County and attended Bowling Green Senior High School. Her professional career consisted of food service where she worked at Petro until her health declined. Vanessa loved children, she seemed to be at her happiest when she was nurturing and loving them.

Vanessa was preceded in death by her parents Verncie and Larney Shepherd Sr; her sister; Brenda Terrell, her brother; Larney Shepherd Jr. and granddaughter Jasmine Shepherd. A devoted friend Mary Samuels also proceeded her in death.

Vanessa leaves to cherish loving memories; her daughter, India Baylor of Caroline County, VA; her son; Jermaine Shepherd of Caroline County, VA; six grandchildren; Jermaine Jr., Jada, Amirah, Muk, Sunshine and Juron; two brothers; Alvin Shepherd of Bowling Green, VA and Shawn (Darlene) Shepherd of Bowling Green, VA; three sister-in-laws; Mary Ann Levere, Karen (Robert) Baylor and Corliss Shepherd; two devoted friends Renia and Mia. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Third Mount Zion Baptist Church, 9132 Fredericksburg Turnpike, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
