Valerie Rock departed this life on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the age of 64.  Valerie was born to the late Dallis and Josephine Thomas on October 15, 1961.

Valerie was educated in the Bristol Township School system.  She graduated from the Bristol Township School District where she was a member of the track team.  Valerie was lovingly known by everyone as "Val".

Valerie was baptized by her father, Reverend Dallis Thomas, at a young age and then became a member of Faith Christian Center in Fredericksburg, VA under the pastoralship of her brother-in-law, Dr. Chastine Rock.  She served as a member of the Usher Board at Faith Christian Center.

Valerie was employed by Aetna Life Insurance Company when she moved to Virginia.  Later she became a Food Service Handler and met her husband, Erwin Rock, where they started a life together in Ruther Glen, VA.  In this union they shared three children, Brandon Welch, Bianca Rock and Jermaine Childs.

"Val" was known for her love of cooking, gardening, plants, dancing and family.

Valerie "Val" Rock was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Rock and her brothers, Gregory and Ronald Thomas. She leaves to cherish her precious memories:  one daughter, Bianca Brenda Rock of Fredericksburg, VA, two sons:  Brandon Louis Welch (Tylitha) of Willow Spring, NC and Jermaine McCoy Childs of Charles City, VA.  One special nephew/son, Curtis Holton of Fredericksburg, VA.  Five siblings:  Brenda Brown of Levittown, PA, Dallis Thomas (Aurora) of Montgomery, AL, Patricia Coleman of Ruther Glen, VA, Jacqueline Thomas of Charlotte, NC and Joe Thomas of Riverside, NJ.  Her adoring granddaughters: Aanieya, Aaneaya, Teeghan, Tylar and Makenzie.

She will certainly be missed by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Faith Christian Center, 10606 Benchmark Road, Fredericksburg, Virginia, 22408, with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at the Rock Family Cemetery, 12438 Golansville Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia, 22456.
