Percell Sylvester Minor, Jr. was born February 12, 1951, in Caroline County, Virginia, to the late Percell Sylvester Minor, Sr. and Christine Fortune Wingfield. Percell peacefully departed his earthly life on Friday, June 21, 2024, at VCU Medical Center.

Percell was educated in Caroline County Public Schools and graduated in 1970 from Ladysmith High School. During his time as a student, he was an active football and basketball player.

After graduation, he was employed by Claiborne & Beck Mattress Manufacturer in Fredericksburg, VA. In 1977, he transitioned to Virginia Power at Possum Point Plant in Dumfries, VA where he worked as a Control Room Operator for 25 years. In 2007, he was blessed with an opportunity to relocate closer to home and he continued his career at Dominion Energy (formally known as Virginia Power) Ladysmith Station, Ladysmith, VA. Percell dedicated 42 successful years to Virginia Power/Dominion Energy. He enjoyed his job and loved his coworkers, which many of them became close friends and he loved just like family. In 2018, his successful career came to an end as he decided to retire and dedicate more time to family and other things he wanted to do.

In 2002, Percell joined the C.W. Edwards Funeral Home staff as a Funeral Home Assistant. After retiring from Dominion Energy, he shifted back into working full time, and demonstrated great care, compassion and dedication while working at the funeral home.

He joined St. John Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member. He loved the Lord, and it was an honor to serve his church community. For many years, Percell faithfully served in many capacities within the church such as the Trustee Board, Cemetery Groundskeeper, Cemetery Committee, Hospitality Committee, Pastor's Aide Committee, Men's Choir, and Usher Board.

Just as he loved serving his church community, Percell was dedicated to Caroline County's community. He served as a referee for Caroline County Parks & Recreation and was currently appointed to the Caroline County Planning Commission and a former representative of Caroline County Board of Zoning Appeals.

Percell was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather; a caring friend who had a big heart and a million-dollar smile. He had kind words for all and was always willing and able to give a helping hand. Percell had many gifts to include love, patience, understanding, wisdom, and a sense of humor. He was dependable, supportive, strong, hardworking and gave his family tools to succeed and the confidence to be successful in this world. Family was important to him, and he cherished each moment and held tight to family bonds. His spirit will continue to echo in all of our hearts.

Percell was a lover of Western shows and all sports, but football was his favorite. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.

Percell was preceded in death by two brothers, Tracey Wingfield and Pernell Childs, and a grand-dog, Maggie Minor.

Percell leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 48 years Brenda Young Minor; two devoted daughters Cherwanda Minor and Felicia Minor-Mewborn both of Milford, Virginia; one son-in-law Nathaniel Mewborn of Milford, Virginia; one son-in-love Calvin Jackson of Louisa, Virginia; One granddaughter who was the apple of his eye, Makayla Minor of Milford, Virginia; bonus granddaughter Cianni Jackson of Louisa, Virginia; one sister, Kathleen Minor Taylor of  Milford, Virginia; four brothers, Daniel Wingfield, Sr. of Richmond, Virginia, Lawrence Wingfield, Theodore Wingfield, Sr. (Kimberly), and Michael Wingfield all of Ashland, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Edwin Young, Jr. (Ruby) of Ruther Glen, Virginia; uncle, Lucius Fortune (Myrtle) of Milford, one aunt, Vivian Claxton of Philadelphia, PA; a devoted nephew and Godson, Daniel Wingfield, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends; four devoted cousins, Wayne Childs, Roscoe Childs, Marcel Minor and Larry Rock and devoted friends, Teddy and Cheryl Alsop, Tonia Alston, Roland and Helen Johnson and David Ware.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Caroline High School, 19155 Rogers Clark Blvd, Milford, Virginia 22514 with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Interment will follow in St John Baptist Church Cemetery, Woodford, VA
