Life Reflections


On July 23, 2014 the gates of heaven were opened and God called one of his children, Truett E. Jeter, Sr. home. Truett was born on August 13, 1942 to the late William & Mary Bernice Jeter. Truett was married 47 years to the late Mary M. Jeter, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary "Becky" Baylor, one sister, Louise Jeter; two brothers, George and Kirk Jeter.


He received his education in Caroline County public schools and at an early age, joined 1st Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Sparta.

Truett Sr.  was fondly called "PaPa Truett" from the members of Sparta Volunteer Fire Department in which he had been a member for over 50 years. He loved helping people and he loved the Fire Department "Papa Truett" also loved "Shady Lane Farms" where he was employed, and loved farming.

He leaves cherished memories to his daughter, Sylvia Pollard (Wayne) of St. Stephens Church; son, Truett Jeter, Jr. (Jackie) of Bowling Green, VA; two granddaughters, Tamara Pollard of St. Stephens Church, VA and Dominique Gardner of Tappahannock, VA; four sisters, Mary B. Jeter, Daisy Broaddus, Gladys Jeter and Mary McPhail all of Bowling Green, VA; two brothers, William "Billy" Jeter and Arthur Earl Jeter of Bowling Green, VA; five sisters-in-law;  four brothers- in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lifelong friends Wayne, Maxine and Todd Beasley

Visitation:  Monday, July 28th, 12 Noon - 8 PM at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., Bowling Green, Virginia

Celebration of Life Service: Tuesday, July 29th, 11 AM at First Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 17065 Seals Road, Sparta, Virginia 22552
