Tony Elwood Nelson was born in Essex County, Virginia on November 24, 1959 to Thomas and Clara Nelson. He entered into eternal rest on October 4, 2020.

Tony accepted Christ at an early age wand was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Champlain, Virginia. He received his formal education in the Essex County Public Schools System. From there Tony began his life as a hard working family man. Tony or "Brown" as he was lovingly called, was  a dedicated husband, father, brother and friend. He had a loving kind heart and was loved by many. Tony was the true meaning of a "good man"! He worked hard for thirty four years at DA Foster and DCI. Tony was promoted to foreman in 1995 and supervisor in 2015. When Tony was not hard at work, he was hard at play. Tony loved to have fun and enjoyed dancing whenever given the opportunity. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, entertaining them and making them laugh. Tony was enchanted by his beloved wife, Sandy and his "girls" Christy, Shayla and Stefie". Just as Tony loved them unconditionally, they cherished him and relished every moment that they had with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Clara Nelson and two brothers, Raymond and Berdenia Nelson. Tony was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend.

He leaves so many to cherish his memory; beloved wife Sandy Nelson; three daughters, Chrissy Nelson, Shayla Johnson and Stefanie Johnson; seven brothers, Jerry Nelson (Mary), Phillip Nelson, Michael Nelson and Brian Nelson (Missy) all of Champlain, Virginia; James Nelson (Alfreda) of King and Queen, Virginia, Kenneth Nelson (Kim) of Tappahannock, Virginia and Bobby Nelson (Sarah) of Ladysmith, Virginia; three sisters, Veda Pickney of Savannah, Georgia, Joann Newbill (Wayne) of Kilmarnock, Virginia and Phyllis Gray (Mark) of Champlain, Virginia; two aunts, Ada Ashlock and Delores Green; special friends, William Coleman, Jr., Darnell Green (Valerie), Robert Lomax; a host of nieces, nephews and friends, especially his work friends.

A  walk through viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday October 09, 2020 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 noon, on Saturday October 10, 2020 at Antioch Baptist Church, 454 Lloyds Road, Champlain, Virginia 22438.
