Theodore Hudson, Sr. 81, of Bowling Green, Virginia, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and uncle, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September, 16, 2015.
Theodore was born May 31, 1934 in Caroline County to the late Raymond and Eula Hudson.He received his education in Caroline County, Virginia Public Schools. After school he relocated to Washington, D.C. to pursue a career in carpentry.
In later years he met Jane Pierce. They married in 1957 and had two children Debra Hudson Baker and Theodore Hudson, Jr.
Theodore became a foreman in Washington, D.C. soon being promoted to supervisor. He played a major role working in the union with George Hyman Construction Company building government buildings. He retired after working 32 years with George Hyman Construction Company.
Theodore was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, becoming a member by baptism under the leadership of Rev. A. P. Young. While at Jerusalem Theodore was a member of the trustee and usher ministry. He dedicated a lot of his time to building the church's basement.
Theodore was a hardworking, humble and generous man to everyone he met. He enjoyed playing baseball for years and was great at it. He loved spending his time fishing, hunting with his dogs and watching baseball.
His favorite football team was the Washington Redskins. Being a family man he loved playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren taking them on his famous lawnmower rides.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Jane Hudson, one daughter Debra Baker, one son, Theodore Hudson, Jr. eleven grandchildren, twenty one great-grandchildren, one brother Charles Hudson, three sisters; Geneva Lewis,Edna Roye and Pearl Belcher, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
One brother Raymond Hudson, Jr. proceeded him in death.
A viewing will be held from 12 to 8 p.m., Saturday, September 19, at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 20, at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 21180 Bagby Road, Sparta, Virginia 22552. Pastor Jared Beasley will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
