Sydney Vernelle Rollins Reynolds, affectionately known as to some as "Toostie, El Syd, El, Tidney, or Syd," was born on January 6, 1936 in King and Queen, Virginia, to the late Lloyd and Estelle Bundy Rollins. On Friday, November 11, 2016, Sydney peacefully transitioned to her home in Glory to live with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sydney accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized to become a member of St. Stephens's Baptist Church, in Central Point, Virginia. As a young girl, she attended church regularly with her parents. In later years, she joined New Hope Baptist Assembly in Tappahannock, Virginia where she remained a member until her death.

Sydney attended St. James School near Bowling Green, Virginia during her elementary school years, and graduated from Union High School in 1955. On October 25, 1955, Sydney was united in Holy Matrimony to Everett " Buck " Reynolds and to this union one daughter was born, Carla Michelle " Mike" Reynold Mullen.

Sydney was a stay-home mom until her daughter Mike, entered elementary school. At that time she ventured out into the work world where she held many different jobs throughout her working years. She met many people and made many friends during that time in her life. She and her niece, Florence traveled Rt. 2 together for many years dealing with snow, ice and deer to get the Southland Corp., which never closed for inclement weather. Very rarely did they miss a day, thanks to their dear friend and co-worker, Michael Pierce for taking them to work with him during very bad weather.

Sydney was the aunt that all of her nieces and nephews went to for advice, a shoulder to cry on or to be the best friend needed to confide in and laugh with especially Buzzy, who spent much of her youth with Buck, Sydney and Mike.

She had many good devoted friends that she shared special times with. Those friends were Ruth Fortune, Annie Mae Johnson, Annie Euson, Vicki Chambers and one young man she considered her adopted son, Clemon "Al" Ware. Al and Mike were inseparable as children, so both families considered Al and Mike as part of their families. After her retirement, Sydney, Fritz and Becky enjoyed their weekly trips to Tappahannock to do grocery shopping. Between the three of them there was plenty to talk and laugh about.

As her health began to decline family members and friends helped out with meals preparing medications, laundry and seeing that monthly bills were paid. Bill and his wife, Lil, have been very instrumental in getting both Sydney and Buck the proper care they needed when the time came for 24 hour in-home care.

Sydney's loving smile and happy demeanor will always be remembered by those who lives that she touched. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mike and Joshua were the loves of her life and she made every effort to spend time with them when she could. As good parents would do, Sydney and Buck worked hard to make sure their family was provided for and that they had everything they needed to be happy and successful in life. The road hasn't always been easy, but they never gave up on their family to each other.

Sydney leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 61 years, Everett V. Reynolds of Milford, Virginia; a daughter, Carla R. Mullen (Daniel) of Crum Lynne, Pennsylvania; a grandson, Joshua Mullen, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Lillian R. "Fritz"
Clarke of Milford, Virginia and Lilly Reynolds of Mechanicsville, Virginia; two brothers in-law, Clarence o "Scoots" Reynolds of Milford, Virginia and William " Bill " Reynolds of Mechanicsville, Virginia; six nieces, Susie Clarke of Richmond, Virginia, Florence Hodges (Van) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Rebecca E. Clarke and Glenda Rinaldi both of Milford, Virginia, Sandra Ware (Earl) of Helment, Virginia and Dena Currie ( Michael) of Mechanicsville, Virginia; two nephews, A.B. Clarke, Jr. (Helen) of Chesterfield, Virginia and Ken Reynolds of Mechanicsville, Virginia and a host of cousins and dear friends.

Rest on dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. Your journey here on earth has ended. We thank God for the life you had and the time we had with you. Our hearts are heavy, but at peace today with the knowledge that if we live our lives according to God's word we will one day be reunited with you and all of our loved ones that have gone on to be with our Heavenly Father.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at C.W. Edwards Funeral 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at St. Stephen's Baptist Church 29436 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Reverend Kenneth A. Davis, will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
