Sydney Gifford Garner, 84, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Hadley Memorial Hospital, Washington, D. C. He was just 9 days short of his 85th birthday.
Mr. Garner honorably served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He was a deacon, Trustee and a member of Reedy Baptist Church. He retired after 32 years of service with the National Security Agency (NSA) in 1985. He enjoyed handyman projects, traveling and his family.
Survivors include his 3 sons: Mark, Terry, and Troy Garner, three stepsons, one stepdaughter, twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Second Baptist Church, 26725 Ruther Glen Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Interment, with full military honors, will be at Reedy Baptist Church Cemetery, 15076 Dry Bridge Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546 immediately following the service.
