Stephanie Liela Vereen peacefully transitioned to be forever with her savior and Lord on Thursday, October 19, 2017. At the age of 60, Stephanie battled health issues for a number of years, but never let go of her faith in God
Stephanie was born on July 19, 1957 in Washington, D.C. She was so blessed, that she had two sets of parents; Evelyn Brinkley and Earnest Archer Johnson, Sr. and the late Peter and Henrietta Bethea. There was always love to go around.
She was educated in the Newport News, Virginia public schools where she graduated from Ferguson High School. She continued her dream and pursued an education in nursing and graduating from Career Development with a nursing license. After holding down various nursing positions including but not limited to Sentara Hampton General Hospital and Newport News General Hospital.
Stephanie was known for her extremely outgoing personality, her infectious smile, her love for food and cooking. Lets not forget her fashion sense, making her the diva that we all know that she was. She was very well rounded and a person who knew a little about everything, and if not she was going to find out.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her father Earnest Archer Johnson, Sr.; her second parents, Peter and Henreitta Bethea; her sister Jean McWhirter; brothers Earnest Archer Johnson, Jr. and Gerrod Johnson.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: her greatest blessings in life her children; Frankie Carrington (Ebony), Nelvin Carrington, LaToya White (Trevor) and Derrick Carrington. With her four blessings she was given thirteen grandchildren; brothers, Joseph Johnson and Derrick Johnson; sisters Renia Holmes (Ronnie), Olivia Bell (Steve) and Sabrina Walker; sister-in-law Wanda Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Third Mount Zion Baptist Church, 9132 Fredericksburg Turnpike, Woodford, Virginia, 22580. Pastor Antonio Baker will be delivering the eulogy. Interment will be private.
