REMEMBERING MAE

Shirley "Mae" Marshall was born on November 9, 1937, in Kidds Fork, Virginia to Charlie Galimore and
Lucy (Washington) Galimore. Our beloved Mae departed this life on February 3, 2023, at her home
surrounded by her immediate family.

The third oldest of eighteen children, Mae was raised by her loving father and grandmother (Pattie
Washington). Mae embraced her role as Big Sister and Momma at an early age after the passing of her
mother and grandmother. Mae was affectionally called "Momma Mae" by her brother Richard. Mae and
Theodore were the guardian parents of her late nephew (Henry "Tom" Taylor) and her niece (Debbie
Galimore); and they opened their home to so many more. Lately, her greatest joys came from the
simplest pleasures: being surrounded by her loving family and friends. Mae loved dancing, especially
doing the "Camel Walk" and she enjoyed listening to music. Mae had a passion for cooking and baking.
She was known throughout Caroline County for her Rice Pudding, homemade Potato Rolls, and Coconut
Pies. She learned to make Rice Pudding from her niece Geraldine after the passing of her sister Frances.
Mae loved plants and flowers, and without a doubt, she received her flowers while she could still smell
them. In her early years she played soft ball for the Caroline County "CC" Cyclones, and she loved the
game of Spades. She and her sister Margie were known as "M&M," and no one could beat them at their
game. A few weeks before her passing, the family gathered around the table to play Spades and Mae
whispered, "I wanna play," she got up off the sofa, walked to the kitchen, took her seat at the table, and
played her last game of Spades.

In 1962, she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Theodore Marshall. The two were united in
matrimony on September 14, 1963, and blessed with four children. Mae and Theodore started
attending the Ruther Glen Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1971, which led both to become
baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses on July 14, 1972, in Crownsville, Maryland. Mae enjoyed reading the
Bible and Watchtower and kept an insightful look into the scriptures. She remained faithful until her
passing. Mae attended Union High School in Caroline County, Virgina. She was employed at Keller Ladder
for almost 30 years and served as supervisor for the window plant and glass house until she retired on
disability.

Mae leaves to love and cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband of sixty years, Theodore
Marshall, son Timothy Marshall (Linda), daughters: Tammy Tillman (Terry), Theodora Marshall, and
Tangela Parker (Reggie); nine grandchildren: Towanda Tompkins (Kenneth), Steve Turner (Tracey), Jason Marshall, (Andre, devoted friend)

Mandisa Griffin (Bradley), Jessica Shelton (Christopher), Lakisha Marshall, Devonta Massie, Dashia
Parker, Terry Tillman Jr.; seventeen great-grandchildren: Kavanta, Jaylen, Steve III, Dakari, Jamari,
MaKayla, Aaliyah, Jayden, Areyona, Josiah, Zendaya, Meyonna, Damyra, Christopher Jr., Jei'on, Nevaeh,
Aislynn; two sisters: Margie Bundy (Johnnie) and Clara Offer (Ronnie); six brothers: Richard Galimore (Barbara Sue), Clarence
Galimore (Claudia), Nathaniel Galimore, Kenneth Galimore, James Galimore, and John Galimore (Deborah); a
devoted first cousin Alice Hudson, who led Mae to the Truth; sister-in-law, Rita Galimore; brother-in-law,
Clarence Marshall; devoted longtime friends: Betty Stancil and Henrietta Moore; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Caroline Middle School, 13325 Devils Three Jump Road, Milford, Virginia  22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness Cemetery, Dry Bridge Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia  22546

A mask or face covering is required to attend service.
