Obituary

Shirley Ann Boulware was born on October 28,1936 to the late Freddie Douglas Martin and Oscie Virginia Martin. Shirley was raised in Bowling Green, Virginia with her eight siblings who all preceded her in death: Willie, George, Gladys, Eula, Oscie, Lenora, Sally, and Susie; all whom she cherished. She received her formal education through the Caroline County school system. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Virginia at an early age, and later moved her membership to St. John Baptist Church in Milford, Virginia.

Shirley, known for her gentle, warm spirit, and quiet laugh, spent her adult years as a skilled homemaker. She dedicated each day to pridefully and meticulously caring, providing, and being available for her family and those around her. She found joy in the presence of children and for many years provided a safe and nurturing place of care out of her home for numerous family and neighborhood children. Shirley looked forward to adorning her yard each year with flowers, especially geraniums, and their arrangement and beauty were frequently praised by those who visited. Her culinary expertise was unmatched and anyone who visited was offered a dessert or side dish, if not a meal that was unforgettable.

Shirley leaves cherished and joyful memories to her devoted husband of 68 years, Ryland "Nunnie" Boulware; four children, Michael Boulware (Repenzela) of Ruther Glen, Virginia, Deborah Winn (Early) of King William, Virginia, Patrick Boulware (Cathy) of Ruther Glen, Virginia, and Stacey Boulware (Larissa) of Woodford, Virginia, twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, two devoted brothers in law, Linwood Boulware and Jack Boulware of Ruther Glen, Virginia, and two sisters in law, Barbara Boulware of Ruther Glen, Virginia, and Lucille Martin, of Bowling Green, dedicated and loving caretaker Phyllis Wilson of Woodford, Virginia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
