Samuel Floyd
Wilson, Jr.
Jun 10, 1993 — May 7, 2021
Woodbridge
Samuel Floyd Wilson Jr. affectionately known as " Sammy" was born on June 10, 1993 in Garmisch, Germany to loving parents Samuel Floyd Wilson Sr. and Katherine Michelle Wilson. He departed this life, suddenly, on May 7, 2021 at age 27.
Sammy spent the first part of his life living and traveling the world with his father. He moved to Virginia in 2007 and lived the remainder of his life in the Fredericksburg/Northern Virginia area.
In May 2011, Sammy graduated from Massaponax High School. After high school, Sam hit his stride academically and professionally. He earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Virginia State University with honors, in only three years in 2014. Immediately after graduation, he began his career of service with the Virginia Department of Social Services. His career pursuits elevated him from a Generalist to Family Services Program Manager in less than six years. Because of his passion and advocacy for child protection, Sammy was given the opportunity to be a consultant and character in a children's storybook titled, "Keeping Safe at Home", along with his dog Smokey.
Samuel will receive his Masters in Clinical Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) today, Saturday, May 15, 2021.
Sammy had several passions in life – one of them being his love for cars. He could visually look at a car and speak to the specifications as if he worked at a dealership. Sammy's second passion was traveling with his three amigos Katie, Whitney & Greg. They traveled as far as London, Puerto Rico and Canada having the time of their lives and creating forever memories. Sam will forever be remembered as a loyal and dependable friend by everyone who knew him. Sammy will also be greatly missed by his side kick & partner in crime…his beloved dog "Smokey". Sammy loved him so very much!
He is survived by his mothers Katherine (Columbia, SC) and Pamela (Fredericksburg, VA); his father Samuel Sr (Fredericksburg, VA.); his brothers Jay (Indianapolis, IN) and Michael (Fredericksburg, VA.); his sisters Katie, Latesha and Mikayla (Fredericksburg, VA.); his grandmothers Charlotte and Susie; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Samuel was predeceased in death by his paternal and maternal grandfathers Arthur Wilson and Edward McAllister
