Ryland Delano Jackson, Sr., son of the late Thomas and Carrie W. Jackson was born on November 5, 1939 in Caroline County, Virginia. Ryland affectionately call "Baby Boy" and "Pa Jack" slipped quietly into eternal rest on Sunday, January 8, 2017. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Melvin , Louis , Leonza , Herbert and Jesse Jackson and two sisters, Dr. Marlene Simpson and Carrie Garnett.

Ryland joined church at an early age and was baptized as a member of First Baptist Church in Woodford, Virginia. He was educated in the Caroline County Public School System and graduated from Union High School, Bowling Green, Virginia in 1960. He was employed by Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia for 23 years until his health began to fail.

Ryland had a gift and love for working with his hands doing woodwork and working on cars. He took pride in teaching his sons, daughters, nephews, son-in-law and grandchildren.

He leaves cherished memories to his loving and devoted wife; Anne Woodward Jackson, six children; Sanja Jackson-Hudson (Ricky) of Bowling Green, Virginia, Ryland Jackson, Jr. of Ruther Glen, Virginia, Kenneth Jackson, of Dallas, Texas, Kari Jackson of Stafford, Virginia, Webster Jackson of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Charles Newbill of Woodford, Virginia; one stepdaughter, Kim Woodward of Spotsylvania, Virginia; 14 grandchildren; NaToya Jackson, Toshima Brown, Cedric Jackson, Danikka Brown, Sertima LeGendre, Alexis Newbill, Tiffany Jackson, India Jackson, Devon Newbill, Adarious Brown, Rydell Jackson, Kaiyla Samuels, Shameta Boggs (Kevin) and Teonika Hudson, six great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; Zandra Jackson; two honorary daughters; Deena Brown and Mishka Lashley; mother-in-law Fannie Woodward of Spotsylavania, Virginia, one brother; Webster Jackson (Karen) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one sister, Joyce Watson of Fredericksburg, Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Victoria Elizabeth Jackson of Woodford, Virginia, Dorothy Jackson of Wheaton, Maryland and Cathy Ivey (Eric) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; brother-in-law, Marshall Woodward (Joyce) of Spotsylvania, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427. A celebration of will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 9262 Guinea Station Road, Woodford, Virginia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
