Ruby Lee Chew, 65, of Spotsylvania, VA, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg. Ruby was born November 9, 1946, in Caroline County, Virginia, to the late Reed Wright, Sr. and Annie T. Wright.
Ruby affectionately known as "Lee" professed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and became a devoted member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church; but in her later years, she joined the Beulah Baptist Church family and served faithfully until death.
She received her education in the Caroline County Public Schools.
Lee retired from the Stafford County Public School System after devoting twenty-five years of excellent service.
Lee enjoyed people. She had such a loving spirit and beautiful presence. Lee was loved by many and she really enjoyed spending her quality time with her 9 beautiful grandchildren and they meant the world to her dearly. They never left her side, the grandchildren were glued to her side.
Lee was very family oriented, she loved her gospel music and was known very well for her famous potato salad.
She leaves to cherish her memory, an extremely loving and devoted family, which include her son, Kimbell L. Chew of Fredericksburg; three daughters, Berdenia A. Chew of Fredericksburg, Wanda D. Chew of Fredericksburg and Tiffany L. Chew-Coleman (Carlos) of Spotsylvania; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, four sisters, Bertha M. Wright of Woodford, Margaret M. Stevens of Ruther Glen, Frances V. Wright of Fredericksburg and Delores Brown of Richmond; one brother, Reed Wright, Jr. of Fredericksburg; two brothers-in-law Bobby Stevens of Ruther Glen and Melvin Brown of Richmond; one sister-in-law Jeanie Wright of Fredericksburg and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one hour before the service at the church on Sunday. A homegoing celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Beulah Baptist Church, 5216 Arcadia Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
