Rosie E. Redd, 86, of Fredericksburg, Va. (formerly of Bowling Green) went to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the home of her son, James and his wife, Virginia in Fredericksburg after a few weeks of serious illness.

In 1947, Rosie was joined in marriage to the late James L. Redd, Sr. and to this union nine children were born. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a good cook from the old school, as her family can testify to her pork chops and gravy, macaroni and cheese and homemade buscuits. She loved solving Word Search puzzles and could finish a book as fast as you could buy them for her.

She is survived by two sons, James Redd (Virginia) of Fredericksburg and Franklin Redd of Ashland; two daughters, Jacqueline Ware of Bowling Green and Beverly Ann Jackson of Sparta; one sister, Gearldine Roye; four grandsons, Darnell, Jeoffrey and Justine Ware and Christopher Redd; three granddaughters, Letitia Johnson (Jamal), Michelle Terrell (Travis) and Khadijah Medley; one god granddaughter, Angela Coleman (Greg); 17 great grandchildren; four nephews, five nieces, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and one devoted special friend, Sadie Williams and other relatives and friends. Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, James, Sr.; two daughters, Audrey and Betty Scott and three sons, Linwood, Randolph and Bryant.

A viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, April 26, at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Main Street, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wrightsville Road, Milford, Virginia.
