Obituary

On May 21, 2016, Rosel Green was called to home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ. She departed this life into peaceful rest at her home. Rosel was born on May 31, 1927 to the late Walter and Addie Washington.

On October 19, 1946, Rosel married the love of her life, Johnie James Green. They Shared 60 blissful years of marriage and were blessed with three daughters and one son. They made their home in Caroline County, Virginia and were loved by all who knew them.

Rosel was a homemaker and a highly valued worker in the Campbell household. She was a longtime and devoted member of the St. John Baptist Church family. She loved God, life, and all people. Rosel could often be seen outside enjoying the fresh air and playing everything on her guitar from Fats Domino to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. to her favorite hymns. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening with her and lifetime partner, Johnie Green. She spent many happy hours sewing and quilt making as well as cooking and canning. She loved a good Western, too. She also loved children and was always overjoyed to have any of her many grandchildren and great- grandchildren on her lap.

Preceding in death were: her husband, Johnie James Green; her son Johnny Richard Green; her daughter, Rose Nell Green; five brothers, Dick, Emmitt, Floyd, Breeze, and Joe Dee; four sisters, Neat, Evelyn, Mabel, and Frances; and a granddaughter, Pamela.

She leaves cherished and loving memories to her sisters, Joyce and Fannie Washington; her daughters, Addie Mae Green and Diane Shelton; seven grandchildren, Julian, William, Johnny James, Nicole, Lori, and Ashley; seven great-grandchildren, William Jr.; Deandre, Kiera, Quiana, Matthew, Marcus, and Tyrek; and a host of cousins, and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at St. John Baptist Church 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
