Rosa French, 91, of Fredericksburg, went from labor to reward peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2014, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Rosa was born and raised in Sealston in King George County. She was the daughter of the late Fred Hunter and Columbus Gray Conway.
She joined Shiloh Baptist Church (New Site), Fredericksburg, Virginia on June 1, 1955 and was a member of ten different church organizations until her health failed. She still attended whenever she could. She left her job to become a house wife and baby-sitter for her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her son: Wallace French, three brothers: Mitchell, Sidney, and Lindsay Conway and two sisters: Alice Conway and Mary Coghill.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Frederick French, Sr., one son, Frederick "Cousey" French, Jr., two daughters, Carolyn Richardson (Doug), Rosalin Johnson, ten grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild: Avanni, one god child: Rita McKenzie, one sister-in-law: Sadie Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she dearly loved.
Viewing will be from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Shiloh Baptist Church (New Site), 525 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, Virginia. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Fletchers Chapel Road, King George, Virginia.
