Ronald Fountain was born on November 14, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA. He was one of 16 children born to the late Deacon Philip Fountain and Sally Mickens Fountain.  He was a twin to brother, Donald (preceded him in death).

He departed this life suddenly on March 17, 2020, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Richmond, Va. Ronald lived a full and gracious life, always focused on providing the best life for his family, greeting all with the utmost respect, being remembered for always "tipping his hat" to the ladies, opening doors, and giving up his seat whenever in a crowded room.

Ronald was married to the late Shirley Gray (Fountain), of Woodford, VA. Until her death in 2004. He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Renaldo Fountain and one god son Mark Fountain, both of Philadelphia PA., One sister Cynthia Treadwell, and a Special Niece, Patricia Myers, both of Philadelphia PA., a dear and special Nephew, Jimmy Fountain of Philadelphia, PA., a devoted Neice, Nephew & Caregivers, Col Bill & Cheryl Sylvester of Accokeek, MD., Nieces Sandra Brown of Bowling Green, Va. & Yolanda Gray of Woodford, Va. and one very Special Sister-in-law, Virginia Latney of Bowling Green, Va., and a very close friend, Mr. John Holmes of Ruther Glen, Va.

To his end, a very special dedicated and loving Caregiver, Theresa Smith of Bowling Green, Va. and a very special couple, Mr & Mrs Bruce McGhee of Woodford, Va.

Additionally, Ronald leaves to cherish his memories, a huge family of loving nieces, nephews great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of In-laws.

Ronald gave his life to Christ at an early age, and continued to strengthen his faith in God till his end. He shared his love of Christ through his continuous study of the word and fellowship with His caregivers.

He was truly a steward of his time, talents and passion for avid swimming, recognized for his multiple times of swimming in the Atlantic Ocean, significant recognition of awards certifications, etc. as a Rigger, starting as an employee of his father's company. Ron and his siblings successfully continued the operation of Philip Fountain & Sons Rigging Company, founded in 1952 by his father, Philip Fountain, Philadelphia PA.

It was the first and only African-American rigging company in the country. The company afforded many African-American men, nephews, and family members consistent employment.

Ronald served in World War II in the European Theatre, as a Sergeant in the US Army, where he began his passion as a Big Rigger, and received many certificates and awards, and recognition as he further displayed his skill and excitement in becoming the best he could be.

Upon his discharge from the Army he furthered his career becoming Long Haul truck driver where he was employed for 40+ years until his retirement.

He become the most recently recognized driver in the company receiving a special award with an embroidered jacket and engraved plaque as the number one "Accident Free Rigging truck driver of the company with over 1,000,000 miles of best driving record In the history of the company.

After a full career of employment he moved into retirement with his wife, Shirley residing in Woodford Virginia to enjoy the quiet country living.
