Robert H. Ferguson, 63, of Bowling Green, Virginia, departed this life after a long illness on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Robert was born June 25, 1949, in Caroline County, Virginia to Esther Greene Shepherd and the late Warren Ferguson.

He received his education in the Washington, D.C. school system. He was employed for over 20 years by the Washington Gas and Light Company.

Survivors include his mother, Ester Shepherd of Bowling Green; three aunts, Virgie Anderson and Lovely Duncan and her husband, Charles, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, and Joyce Garland of Coatesville, Pennsylvania; one uncle, Edward Greene of Ruther Glen, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and one devoted cousin, Eva Berry.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one hour prior to service at the church on Thursday.

A Going Home Celebration will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, at Second Baptist Church, 26725 Ruther Glen Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
