Robert Carter, 101, of Ruther Glen, Virginia went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2009 at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ollie Carter; five children: Rev. Robert L. Carter and his wife, Gladys, Hilda Taylor, Gerald Carter and his wife, Joyce, Betty Carter and her husband, Burton, and Brenda Carter; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Jericho Baptist Church, 8435 Jericho Road, Ruther Glen, VA 22546 with Rev. Glen Leverette, Sr., Pastor, officiating and Rev. Robert L. Carter giving the eulogy. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 15, 2009 from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 P.M. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, VA 22427 and one hour before the service at the Church on Saturday.
