Ridgley Tyrone Pleasants, was born March 13, 1953 in Milford, Virginia and departed this life on November 9, 2017 at his sister's residence in Bowling Green, Virginia. Tyrone, as he was known by family and friends was born to the late John Ridgley and Mary Lee Pleasants. He was preceded in death by four brothers, William Costello, John (Sonny Boy), Edward (Dickey Boy) Carter and James (Chuck) Pleasants; three sisters, Jean Carolyn Pollard, Sylvia Thornton and Gloria (Sudie) Fitzgerald; one son Little Ty.
Tyrone accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Saint James Baptist Church. He joined the Army in 1973 and served for two years. Upon his discharged from the military, he was self employed as a truck driver and drove across the country for many years until his health failed him and he had to retire.
He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. He loved working with his hands and helping anyone that was in need. He was loved and admired by all he came in contact with.
Tyrone is survived by two daughters; Stephanie and Sara; three sons; Marcus, Donavan and Cameron; one step-daughter; Unique (Juanita) Latney; one step-son, Trevor Coleman; two sisters, Barbara Pleasants (Richard) and Sydney Rutherford; two brothers in-law, Arthur Thornton and James (Cisco) Fitzgerald; one uncle, Carol Pleasants; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Saint James Baptist Church, 19514 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia 22514. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Bruce Burton will be delivering the eulogy.
Interment will be private.
