Rhoda Evans Williams Nelson, daughter of the late James Henry Williams and Jeannette Braxton Williams, was born January 7, 1922 in Caroline County, Virginia.
She departed this life on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the home of her care-giver in Bowling Green, Va.
Rhoda was educated at the Central Point School in Central Point, Virginia. She received Christ at an early age and became a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Champlain, Virginia.
She was united in matrimony to Aubrey Odell Nelson. From this marriage, there were no children. As a young adult, she moved to Fredericksburg, Va., and was employed there for over 60 years until her health began to fail. She moved back to Caroline County in 2009 to be near her family.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Hilton B. Williams, Sr., and Russell Vaughn.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Rudolph Jeter, one sister-in-law, Elsie Bundy Jeter, eight nieces, Mildred, Gloria, Catherine, Jean, Ann, Thelma, Helen, and Grada; two nephews, Hilton, Jr., and Joe; two great nieces, Maria, and Raven, two great nephews, Robbie and Kyle, and a host of great-great nieces and nephews. Rhoda was especially fond of her great-great nephew, Kylic "Little Kyle" Williams, and a dear friend, Moke. She had two life-long friends Mrs. Ida Byrd and Mrs. Lillian Clarke.
The family wishes to express its sincere thanks and appreciation to her care-givers, Marie Lumpkin of Champlain, Virginia and Carol Grimes of Bowling Green, Virginia, for their loving care.
