Reginald Minor was born on October 8, 1932 to the late Allen Lloyd and Addie Lee Mont and quietly entered into eternal rest at his residence on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. He was also affectionately known as "Reggie," "Ned," "Med," or "Cap'n" to family and friends. Reginald accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C. A. Lindsey. His maternal grandfather, Giles Mont, Sr. was one of the founding Deacons of St. John and this Church has always been very special for him and the Minor family.

His parents instilled in him and his siblings a strong and positive work ethic. He decided early on that "farming" was not for him. At the age of 16 he began working for RF&P Railroad and later he worked at Bethlehem Steel and Hanover School for Boys during his younger adult years.

Reginald and Viola Boxley were married on December 11, 1954. From this union two daughters were born, Debra and Philicia. In late 1964 he relocated to Detroit, MI and was hired by General Motors soon thereafter. While living there, he was instrumental in  helping three of his nephews secure summer jobs while in school and assist other family members in various ways. After completing over 30 years of service, Reginald retired from the G M Corporation on September 30, 1995, and moved back to Virginia into his newly built home. Because he felt he had too much free time on his hands, Reginald took a part-time job with E. F. Thompson transporting mail.

On November 5, 2004, Reginald and Evelyn Thomas were married and they shared more than  fifteen happy retirement years together. They went on several Caribbean cruises and one to New England which ended in Nova Scotia. They also enjoyed trips to California, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, New Orleans and Florida. Especially memorable, was their solo trip to Hawaii. Most importantly, they enjoyed entertaining family at home.Reggie enjoyed watching baseball and football games on TV. He was an avid fan of the University of Michigan football team. He wore a UM baseball cap regularly and enjoyed responding to the call "Go Blue" from strangers he encountered.

In addition to his parents, Reginald was preceded in death by eight siblings; Allen and Gladys (who passed in youth), Geraldine, James, Frank, Alphonso, Loraine and Percell Sr.; and a daughter Philicia  (November 9, 2013).

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Evelyn Minor; two daughters, Debra Minor Stevenson (Michael) and Karen Jefferson; seven grandchildren: Olayemi E. Ogunbase, Sasha N. Stevenson, Michael B. Stevenson II, Tiffany, Antoine, Devon and Angelica Jefferson; twelve great- grandchildren:,  stepdaughter, Sydney Thomas; step-granddaughter, Lindsey Turner; sister, Vivian Claxton; sister-in-law, Marian Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020 at C.W.Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the funeral home with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Reverend Antonio Clinkscales will be delivering the eulogy.

Interment will follow in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic a mask or face covering will be required upon entering the funeral home.
