Early on Sunday morning, April 19, 2020, the gates of heaven opened wide to receive Raymond into his new home. For the past month he has been a resident of the Autumn Care Nursing Home in Mechanicsville, Virginia until his health declined and he entered into eternal rest.

Raymond was born December 29, 1934 to the late Helen Coleman-Greene in Essex County, Virginia. His brother Frank Greene preceded him in death. Raymond was educated in Caroline County, Virginia.  He joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church as a very young boy.  On August 28, 1953 Raymond married Annie Mae Fortune and to this union God blessed them with two girls and two boys.

Over the years, Raymond has worked as a mill worker, truck driver, used car salesman with his own lot, race car owner and driver and an auto mechanic with his own shop.

His son,  Raymond Greene,Sr took his dad into his home for the last seven years and attended to his every need in ways most sons would never dream of.

Raymond's son Dennis Greene, preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish and adore his memory two daughters; Sherita Stewart (Tony) of Bowling Green, Virginia; Polly Johnson (Darnell) of Champlain, Virginia; son Raymond Greene, Jr. of Supply, Virginia;  one sister, Blanche Fortune (Buster) of Bowling Green, Virginia; nine grandchildren, Anthony, DJ, Danita, Maceshia, Dennis, Jr., Robin, Felicia, Pam and Tasha; several  great grandchildren; two nieces, Nae and Angie; two nephews, Robbie, Randy and a host of cousins and friends; granddaughter in law, Rebecca who could match him word for word  in their many conversations about NASCAR, dad's most favorite hobby in the world.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

A private family burial will be held Saturday, April 25, 2020 at St. Stephen's Baptist Church Cemetery, Milford, Virginia.
