Raymond C. Berry, 73, known as Sonny Boy, was born on July 1, 1941, to the late Clifton and Nellie Stewart Berry. On Wednesday, April 1, 2015, Raymond departed this life and quietly entered into eternal rest.
Raymond was educated in King and Queen County Public Schools. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined First Mount Olive Baptist Church in Newtown, Viginia. His career included employment at Sam Balls Lumber Company and Westvaco Paper Company.
Raymond leaves cherish memories to four sisters, Mary Deyo of Newtown, Daisy Deyo of Woodbridge, Priscilla Ann Coleman of Washington, DC and Marion Estelle Berry of Woodbridge; three brothers, Richard Berry (Virginia) of Sparta, Elvin Berry (Iva) of Bowling Green and James Berry (Wynette) of North Carolina; three aunts, Elizabeth and Leverta Stewart of Tappahannock and Odell Martin of Richmond; one great aunt, Meta Dishman and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Friday, April 10, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia and one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.
A homegoing celebration will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at First Mount Olive Baptist Church, Newtown Road, Newtown, Virginia with Rev. Drucilla Tate delivering the eulogy. Interment will be in the church Cemetery.
