Mrs. Queen Esther Burroughs Sherard was born on January 28, 1936 in King William County, Virginia. She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Providence Baptist Church and was currently a member of Second Unity Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is where she served the Lord under the leadership of her pastor, Rev. Leo Cummings. She humbly welcomed people into the church as an usher/greeter. Additionally, she was actively involved in the women's ministry and a member of the senior choir.

She peacefully transitioned into heaven on January 9, 2021 while convalescing at the House of Refuge in Richmond, Va. She was the youngest of 11 children born to Deacon John E. Burroughs and Deaconess Martha Burroughs. She was blessed to be joined in holy matrimony with the late Victor Sherard and into that union came one child, Mrs. Lisa Sherard-Fields. Mrs. Sherard was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband and her daughter.

Queen Esther was raised in King William County, Virginia and received her education in the public school system there. When she became Victor's loving bride they resided in Philly throughout their 45 years of marriage. She was the world's best mother and grandmother. She was employed at an auto electronics plant as an assembler while managing her family.

Queen leaves to cherish her memory her son-in-law, Thomas Alton Fields, Jr., along with three grandsons, Thomas Victor Fields III, Tavis John Fields and Sean Derrell Caple. Also experiencing this great loss are four great-grandchildren, Jada Caple-Fields, Xavier Victor Fields, Perseus Caple and Delancey Caple. There are also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly and cherished the time they spent with her. A special recognition goes to Thomas Fields (grandson), Nicole Carr (niece), and Joy Robinson (niece) for their unconditional love and care shown during Queen's last days. Aunt Queen was the last honored elder on both the Burroughs and Sherard sides of the family.

As her family, we are so thankful to God for the blessing of Aunt Queen. We trust and believe that her life paved a pathway to her heavenly home.
