Pierpont Williams, 88, of Woodford, Virginia, died on Monday, August 2, 2010, at the Bowling Green Health Care Center in Bowling Green.
He was a faithful member of the Zion Grove Baptist Church in Woodford and served proudly in the U. S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sarah Frances Williams of the home; one son Pierpont Gregory Williams and his wife, Doris, of Carmel Church, Virginia; one daughter, Maria M. Williams of Stafford, Virgnia; two daughters-in-law, Doris Y. Williams and Veronica M. Williams; four grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Jackson; two brothers, Franklin and Theodore Williams both of Woodford and a host of other relatives and friends. Pierpont was preceded in death by one son, Hiawatha C. Williams and one step-daughter, Pearline Ware.
Visitation will be Friday, August 6, from noon to 8 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to the service, at Zion Grove Baptist Church, 9450 Fredericksburg Turnpike, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, August 7, at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth L. Grasty officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
