Obituary

Phyllis Mae Childs Perkins, was born on May 22, 1947 to the late Myrtle B. Childs and lovingly raised by the late Fred N. Childs. Phyllis departed this life peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Phyllis accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined St. John Baptist Church in Milford, Virginia. She received her education in the Caroline County Public Schools System. Phyllis later relocated to Wilmington, Delaware where she met and married the late Robert E. Perkins. Wilmington was where she started her life long waitressing career of forty five years even after returning to Caroline County.  She loved serving her customers. In between working she loved to travel.

Phyllis was preceded in death by two brothers; Freddie Childs and Pernell Childs.

She is survived by two daughters; Rockie Carter (Sandy) and Daphany Perkins (Walter) of Washington D.C.; one son, Kelly Perkins of Ruther Glen, Virginia; six grandchildren, Quentin and Kristen Carter of Ruther Glen, Virginia, Olivia and  Exstacey Perkins, and Jada Somma all of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Sade Ealy of Washington, D.C.; two brothers Wade Childs (Vanessa) and Walter Childs (Yolanda) all of Ruther Glen, Virginia; one sister, Mary Tyler of Montpelier, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends among them three devoted , Jeanette Parker, Joyce Sampson and Christine Simms.

A walk through viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday November 20, 2020 at C.W.Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday November 21, 2020 at C.W.Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Internment will follow at  the Childs Family Cemetery in Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546
