Obituary

On December 31, 1919 the world was blessed with a beautiful baby boy, named Peter Thomas Samuels. He was affectionately known by his family and friends as, "Daddy", Daddy-Peter, Stim Winder and Unc-Peter. On May 16th, 2015, he made his transition peacefully to go and be with the Lord, at the home of his son, John Samuels.

Peter was the son of the late Polly Ann Harris. He attended Caroline County Public Schools. At an early age he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined the band of Christians at Mt. Salem Baptist Church, Ruther Glen Va.

He was employed by several companies; Taylor Fiber, Royal School, Pitts Mill, Williamsburg Millwork and Frank McAllister Construction.

Peter met the love of his life, Catherine Johnson and out of that union 5 children were born. He had two step sons who he accepted as his own. Preceding him in death was his loving wife Catherine (Cat), two daughters, Vernell and Virginia; two sons Aubrey (Genie) and Welford; one granddaughter LaVonda Wingfield.

Peter was well loved by his family and friends. He was well blessed to have the opportunity to see his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.

Preceding him in death was a wonderful and devoted close friend Annie Bell Morris, who he respected and enjoyed being around along with her loving family. Who also helped cared for him as his health began to fail. He will be greatly missed in the community. Peter was a man who walked tall, cracked a joked but didn't tolerate foolishness. He was known as the neighborhood taxi. His footsteps will forever be stamped in the sands of Caroline County.

Leaving to cherish his memories are three devoted children; one daughter Arethia Jackson, two sons John Peter his caregiver and James (Cynthia), all of Ruther Glen, VA; one brother –in-law Vincent Taylor (Vivian) of Wheaton, MD; ten grandchildren Joyce, Harold, Casey, Lawrence, Denise, Monica, LaShell, Stephanie, Lovanda and De'Andre; thirteen great grandchildren, a host of nieces one devoted Sandra Brown, nephews, other relatives and friends – devoted; The Morris Family, Julia Gwaltney, Edward Washington, David Rousey, Ricky Coleman and Barbara Washington.
