Obituary

Trustee Percell Sylvester Minor, Sr. departed this life peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2014 at his residence in Milford, Virginia.

Percell was born June 19, 1926 to the late Allen L. and Addie M. Minor.

He attended public schools in Caroline County, Virginia.

He joined St. John Baptist Church at an early age where he attended faithfully until his health declined. Percell was a faithful trustee at St. John Baptist Church for over 40 years.
Percell loved the outdoors.

As a young adult he worked on his family farm where he discovered his gift for cultivating God's soil and his love for tractors. He was known in his community for his vegetable garden especially his foot long watermelons and sweet potatoes. During the snowy winter months he would take his "uniquely designed" tractors and willingly clean his neighbors' driveways. Percell was also a gifted repairman. He could repair and build/rebuild just about anything.

He was a devoted, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He leaves to cherish sweet memories: one devoted daughter Kathleen Minor-Taylor of Milford, Va; two sons, one devoted Percell Minor, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Milford, Va and Pernell Childs of Ruther Glen, Va; four grandchildren, Cherwanda Minor of Milford, Va, Felicia Minor of Ruther Glen, Va, Asia Dawson of Ruther Glen, Va and Tavaz Childs of Ruther Glen, Va; one great-granddaughter, Makayla Minor of Milford, Va; one brother, Reginald Minor and his wife Evelyn of Ruther Glen, Va; one sister, Vivian Claxton of Philadelphia, Pa; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His devoted care givers, Sarah Childs, Brenda Carter, and Charles Monroe.
