On September 7, 2025, Pauline Helen Wheeler Lomax, age 82, was called to her eternal home after a courageous battle with cancer. She transitioned peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.

Pauline was born on August 4, 1943, in Port Royal, Virginia, to the late Helen Wheeler Ellis and was lovingly reared by the late William Ellis. She received her early education at the Old Port Royal School and later attended John J. Wright Consolidated School.

Throughout her life, Pauline was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She was employed with Mary Washington College (now the University of Mary Washington), White Packing Company, and Mount Rose Canning Company (Pickle Factory.) No matter where she worked, Pauline was known for her strong work ethic, warm spirit, and commitment to those around her.

At an early age, Pauline accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, joining Zion Hill Church in Spotsylvania, Virginia. She later became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply, Virginia, where she faithfully nurtured her walk with Christ until her death.

Pauline married the love of her life, James "Jimmy" Edward Lomax. Together they built a marriage grounded in love, family, and faith.

She was active in her community and enjoyed attending the Senior Citizen Centers in both Caroline and Spotsylvania Counties. She especially looked forward to fellowship, day trips, and the joy of connecting with others. Family was the centerpiece of Pauline's life. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, often dancing and laughing with them. In her final days, she lovingly shared that she would soon be "dancing with the Lord."

Pauline was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Edward Lomax; her grandson, Thomas II "Tommy"; her sisters, Lois Mae Roy and Jean Rebecca Wheeler; her brother, Percell Ellis; and her parents, William and Helen Ellis.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children: sons Thomas (Janifer) Wheeler and O'Neal (Tiffany) Wheeler, and daughters Arona Wheeler, Dr. Katrenia Wheeler, and Angela Wheeler Young (Dimtius). She also leaves behind four grandchildren—Andrea, Michael, Keshia (Jermaine), and Janay—and four great-grandchildren: Makyi, Makyia, Abrielle, and Cyrie.

Pauline is also survived by her two sisters, Roberta Cook and Joanne Lewis and one brother Earnest Ellis, and uncle, Bishop Victor Wheeler; three brothers-in-law, Russell Lomax, Charles Lomax, and Robert Lomax; one sister-in-law, Marion Lomax; two special friends, Ruby Lee Harris and Barbara Jean Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

Pauline was truly the matriarch of her family—a pillar of strength, love, and wisdom. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and resilience will continue to live on through those she loved. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at  2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, 3207 Quarter Hill Road, Supply, Virginia 22436
