Rev. Ocellia Lewis affectionally known as "Cee" was born June 29, 1944, one of ten children born to the late Profit P .and Carrie N. Baker in Caroline County, VA. She departed this life on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, VA.

Rev. Lewis joined Macedonia Baptist Church at an early age. On October 3, 1959 she was united in holy matrimony with James Herman Lewis to this union she was blessed with five children; Cathy, Gairard, Penny, Angelia and Karen. Rev. Lewis served in many roles to include; a member of the Senior choir, Mass choir, Deaconess and Missionary ministries. She also organized many programs in which the church could give back to the community such as quarterly feeding at the Thurman Brisben Shelter and donating different items to the Social Services. She taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school regularly. Prior to answering her call to ministry, she served as the overseer of the Women's ministry, Hospitality ministry and directed the men's choir for many years when they were without a pianist. She was also very involved in the Mattaponi Baptist Association of Virginia where she served in various roles.

Rev. Lewis attended Woolfolk grade school and later enrolled in the Continuing Adult Education classes held at Caroline High School. Rev. Lewis's love for the Lord was revealed through her call to the Ministry. She was Licensed to preach in 1998 and Ordained in 2002 under the leadership of the late  Rev. Dr. Clarence E. Williams and Linda V. Williams. She also served as the custodian of the church, for many years.

Rev. Lewis worked many years in the Shipping and Receiving department at Montgomery Wards. Upon retiring, she began a career as a para educator in the Caroline County School System working with children with various disabilities. Although this career brought her great joy she entered a second retirement. However, this did not stop her from working, she later returned to the school system to work part-time in the cafeteria as well as helping to take care of her mother.

Rev. Lewis's love for family was shown through her weekly Sunday meals held after church. Rev. Lewis was known for her acts of kindness to all who knew her, and because of her love for children, she served as a foster parent for many years. She loved her community and regularly checked on past and current members of her church and those in the community, always sharing the word of God. She loved singing and praising God because she knew He was an on-time God. She often spoke on how good God was to her and her family. She enjoyed her regular routine of going to Gold's Gym pre-COVID and when she had to stop attending the gym, she would take daily walks or ride her exercise bike. She enjoyed playing Candy Crush on her iPad and working on cross word puzzles. Her number one hobby was shopping and finding bargains at the Goodwill and Salvation Army. She was a sharp dresser and loved to wear hats with every outfit.

Rev. Lewis was preceded in death by her father Profit P. Baker; three brothers, Archie, Willie and Timothy; her husband of 62 years James Herman Lewis; and grandson Andre Ellis.

She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Cathy Parker (Quinton), Penny Scott (Robert), Rev. Dr. Angelia Lewis and Karen Clemons; one son, Gairard Lewis; two great-granddaughters, Jasmyne and Jai'Den Lewis who were placed in her care; five grandchildren, Kaiyonnah Hawkins, Darrius Lewis (Rebekah), DeAngelo Lewis (Chelsey), Elexis Clemons and Gairard Hawkins; and sixteen great-grandchildren; her mother Carrie Baker of Woodford, VA; four brothers, Walter Baker (Gloria), Ervin Baker (Carlene) both of Woodford, VA, Joseph Baker Coleman of Fredericksburg and Profit Baker (Jarita) of Washington, DC; two sisters, Arterita Brown (Joseph Sr.) and Charity Baker Deane; two aunts Lessie Reynolds and Gloria Reynolds all of Woodford, VA; brothers-in-law, Bernard Lewis (Helen), Charles Lewis both of Woodford, VA and James E. Morris, Jr. of Spotsylvania, VA; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Lewis of Woodford, VA, Emma Christopher of Fredericksburg, VA and Rosa Marie of Baltimore, MD; goddaughters, Dornita Branham and Dr. FaFa Baker and godsons Christopher Williams and Anthony Horn, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 7187 Macedonia Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the  church with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Claiborne Crossing Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
