Nannie Joyce Washington entered eternal rest at Ashland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, September 3, 2022.  Joyce was born March 11, 1938, to the late Walter Washington and Addie Washington Blackwell.

Joyce attended Caroline County Schools. She joined Saint James Baptist Church, which she faithfully attended until her health prevented her from being present.  Joyce was employed by the Caroline County Schools for several years.  She loved to dance, and her favorite singer was James Brown.

Preceding her in death were brothers, Eddie, Floyd, Breeze, Joe Dee and Emmitt Washington; sisters, Addie Mae, Evelyn and Mabel Washington, Rosel Green, and Frances Loving; a special and devoted friend, Robert E. Lee, Sr.; devoted nephew, James Washington; and niece, Evelyn Washington.

She leaves cherished and loving memories to her sister, Fannie Washington; devoted nieces, Barbara Garnett (Ray), Diane Shelton (Tony) and Karen Washington; nephew, Brian Syndnor (Jen); and a host of cousins, great nieces, great nephews and other family and friends.

A walk thru viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the funeral home with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in St. James Baptist Church Cemetery, 19514 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia  22514
