Miriam (Peggy) Celestine Y. Jackson was born on December 27, 1944 in Newport News, VA to the late Willie and Helen Young. She departed this life on May 17, 2022 at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA surrounded by love ones.
Miriam graduated from Huntington High School Newport News, VA in June of 1963. After high school she proceeded to Washington, DC to pursue her career at Court Test Peters. Later she became an Accountant at the Bureau of Public Debt and Treasury Department. The Bureau of Public Debt is where she later retired.
Miriam met the love of her life James Jackson, Jr. They married on December 24, 1965. From that union three children were born, one deceased daughter and two sons.
After moving to Woodford, VA Miriam and her husband joined St John Baptist Church. She was a dedicated Usher, President and Vice President of the Usher Ministry. She also sung on the Hour of Power Choir until she became ill.
Miriam was wonderful person and a joy to be around. She enjoyed reading her Bible on her porch. She said that was her quiet time with GOD. Miriam was a loving wife and mother. Her specialty in kitchen was her homemade rolls that melt in your mouth and her delicious potato salad. We love you and you will be missed at our family gatherings but, GOD loves you more. You will always have a special place in our hearts.
She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory her devoted husband; James Jackson Jr., two sons; Anthony Jackson (Nedia) of Waldorf, Maryland and James Jackson, III of Woodford, VA ; two grandchildren ,Treasure Jackson and Taywon Jackson; three cousins Dott Murray, Darlene Washington and Wendell Washington of Newport News, VA; three brother-in-laws Alphonso Jackson (Christine) of Woodford, VA, Russell Jackson (Cecilia) of Huntington, MD, Alfred Jackson (Jacqueline) of Woodford, VA; two sister-in-laws, Nannie Wright (Donald) of Spotsylvania, VA and Julie Jackson of Ruther Glen, VA and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, family and friends.A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Caroline Community Services Building, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Saint John Baptist Church Cemetery, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
