Minnie Lee Brown's Obituary
Minnie Lee Brown, 84, of Milford, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Minnie was born on October 18, 1927, to the late Ives Henry Fortune and the late Lucy Kate Deyo.
Minnie was educated in the public schools of Caroline County. She accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age at Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she served and worked faithfully on various ministries, such as the Missionary, the Hospitality Committee, the Ways and Means, and the Pastor's Aide Ministry. She loved her church family, but most of all, she loved the Lord. She didn't hesitate to share her love and testimonies about the Lord with whomever she came in contact with.
She loved to read her Bible, especially the book of Psalms. Minnie loved gardening, taking care of flowers and her family.
Minnie met and married the love of her life, the late Elliott Frederick Brown, Jr. and to this union they were blessed with four children.
She leaves to cherish the life she lived so beautifully, two sons, Elliott Fred, III and his wife, Clarice of Stafford, Virginia and Alan of Caroline County; two daughters, Belva Brown of Fort Washington, Maryland and Cathy Harrell and her husband Allan of Temple Hills, Maryland; two granddaughters, Stacy Brown and Shannon White; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Calvin; two sisters, Romaine Green and her husband of Howard of Caroline County and Shirley Lumpkin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; godson, Christopher Stewart; two very dear cousins, Rebecca Wilson and Vernell Hudgins and a host of nieces, newphews other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 28, from noon to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home and one hour before the service on Saturday, at the church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 21180 Bagby Road, Sparta, Virginia 22552 with Rev. Irving Woolfolk, Jr., officiating and Rev. Jared S. Beasley, Pastor delivring the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
