Michael D. Washington, Jr. was born October 12, 1989, at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He departed this life suddenly on December 16, 2021, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.
Michael attended Caroline County Public Schools until his senior year when he and his friend Paxton decided to venture out into the world. They ended up in Harrisonburg, Virginia where they remained for the next fourteen years. During this time, he met the mother of his children, many friends, and held various jobs.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Deacon Robert Monroe, Sr. and Richard and Elma Washington; maternal grandparents, Mosebey and Lucille Fortune; uncles, Kevin Monroe and James Washington; aunt, Cheryl Jones and cousin, Katisha Washington-Steele.
He leaves cherished and fond memories to his parents, Robert "Stoney" Jr. and Julia Monroe; father, Michael Washington, Sr. (Shynisha); his children, Saquaia Pruitt and Jayceon Washington of Harrisonburg, Virginia; grandmother, Shirley Monroe; brothers, Diaunte Monroe and Mathew and Micah Washington of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Andre Johnson of King George, Virginia; sisters, Kiaunte' and Zaniya Monroe and Lovonda Johnson of Caroline County, Virginia; uncles, Pastor Richard Monroe (Tiffany) of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Mark Monroe (Theresa) of Caroline County, Charles Reynolds (Bridgett) and Henry Fortune of Caret, Virginia, Michael and Tyrone Fortune of Hustle, Virginia, Richard Jr., Raymond, William, Edward, Ronald, and Anthony Washington of Fredericksburg, Virginia; aunts, Tangela Monroe of Milford, Virginia, Tracey Fortune, Ruby, Arlene, and Edith Washington of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Alice Woods (Maurice) of Ladysmith, Virginia; and two young ladies/cousins—Diane Wood (Lawrence) of Milton, North Carolina and Mauricia Crutchfield (Minister Ronnie Crutchfield) of Ruther Glen, Virginia who are very dear to his mother; Arielle Pruitt of North Carolina, a dear friend and the mother of his children; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Caroline Community Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
