Mattie Virginia Gordon, 82, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at her home in Bowling Green, Virginia. She was born to the late Garland and Catherine Gordon of Caroline County, Virginia.

Mattie accepted Christ at an early age; she was a faithful member of Beth'el Baptist Church.

Mattie was a lifelong resident of Caroline County and received her education in the Caroline County Public Schools. Mattie worked at the New Yorker Restaurant in Bowling Green, Virginia for over 40 years.

Mattie was preceded in death by two sisters; Ann Gordon and Lucy Gordon, two brothers; Cornelius "Jack" Gordon and James Gordon.

Mattie leaves cherished memories to two sons, Charles Gordon of Bowling Green, Virginia and William Gordon of Brooklyn, New York; one sister, Shirley Price of Bowling Green, Virginia; two brothers, Jimmie Gordon of Phoenix, Arizona and Charlie Gordon (Helen) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; three grandchildren, Tameka Turnbull (Mike) of Brooklyn, New York; Kevin Gordon of Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Keith Gordon of Deer Park, New York one great grandson, Mekhi, best friend Cachita Myers and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 6, at the C.W. Edwards Funeral Home,16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Va.


A celebration of life will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, November 7, at Beth'el Baptist Church, 103 Ennis Street, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427. Interment will follow at Mt. Lawn Cemetery, Woodford, Virginia.
