Obituary

On Sunday evening, March 18, 2018, God sent an angel on a mission to escort the soul of Mary Carter Robinson to eternal rest. She peacefully answered the Master's call and began the journey to her final rest. Her life's journey began on June 2, 1943, when she was born to  her parents, the late Burton and Lelia Carter in Caroline County, Virginia. Mary was known to her family and friends as "Sugar Baby".

She graduated from Union High School in Caroline County, Virginia and attended Virginia Union University. She lived in Hawaii for more than thirteen years.

When Sugar Baby returned to Virginia, she was employed by Best products, and thereafter at SunTrust Bank, where she was employed for over twenty years. Her bubbly personality and vivacious smile drew customers to seek her services.

Sugar baby was a member of Saint John Baptist Church where she served as church clerk, worked with the Missionary Ministry, the First Responders and sang with the Spiritualettes Choir.

She leaves cherished memories to her loving husband, Horace D. Robinson and her mother Lelia Carter of Woodford, Virginia; one brother, Burton Carter, Jr. (Betty) of Ruther Glen, Virginia; one sister, Sherita Young (Charles) of Woodford, Virginia; devoted aunts, Cora Coates and Gloria Chatman of Ruther Glen, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Davis and Lucy Mae Latney ( Aaron) of Maryland; step daughters, Denise Robinson Frye (Aaron) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Sandra Robinson and Sharon Robinson Smith of Woodford, Virginia; three nephews, Damien Carter (Sharon) of Ruther Glen, Virginia, Darius Young and Christopher Young of Woodford, Virginia; one niece, Danielle Cosby (Leslie); two great nieces; one great nephew; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a devoted cousin-in-law, Susie Henderson of Maryland; devoted friends, Lucille Bush, Marilyn Hamn, Myrtle Carey and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

A viewing will be held from 4:00  to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green ,Virginia 22427 with family receiving fiends from 6:00  to 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Saint John Baptist Church, 17080 S. River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
