Mary Elizabeth Allen Monroe departed this life on her train to heaven early on Friday, January 3, 2020 at her residence in Ruther Glen, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Florence Allen. She leaves cherished memories to her husband, Charles L. Monroe, Ruther Glen, VA, one devoted daughter and son, Deneen Y. Monroe-Stewart and Eric D. Monroe (Debra); three grandchildren, Kiara Monroe-Butler (Joshua), Marquis Johnson, and Ryen Henry; three great grandchildren, Kaiya Monroe, Kayden Butler, and Abigail Funk; two godsons, Quincy Taylor and Madrice Hamn I; one brother in law, Lloyd E. Monroe and one sister in law, Shirley J. Monroe. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives that will miss her dearly.

A viewing will be held Friday, January 10, 2020 from 4 pm to 8 pm at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, VA 22427. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 pm with a viewing one hour prior to the  service on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Rd, Woodford, VA 22580. Interment will follow in the church cemetery
