Mary E. Lindsey was born in Caroline County, Virginia on November 13, 1923. She was the oldest girl of eleven chldren born to Carey and Pattie Samuel. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

She leaves to cherish her memories, four daughters: Ethel Easley of Bowie, Maryland, Thelma Neal (William) of Capital Heights, Maryland, Dorothy Coleman (Frank) of Bowling Green, Virginia and Cynthia Green (Marvin) of North Chesterfield, Virginia; six sons: James Lindsey (Ann) of Bowling Green, Virginia, Rev. Donald Lindsey of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Clyde Lindsey of Tappahannock, Virginia, Richard Lindsey (Geraldine) of Glen Allen, Virginia, Russell Lindsey (Reacie) of Washington, D. C., and Charles Lindsey (Sandra) of Forestville, Maryland; one sister: Eunice Coleman of Milford, Virginia; five sisters-in-law: Dora Samuel, Gloria Samuel (Leroy), Gloria Samuel (Carey), Georgiana Samuel and Annie Timbers; one aunt: Ollie Green; forty-five grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She also leaves to cherish two admired caregivers: Patricia Cager and Marvin Tolliver.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Charlie M. Lindsey; her parents: Carey and Pattie Samuel; daughter: Eunice Rebecca Samuel; two sons: Rev. Clarence Lindsey and Randolph McKee Lindsey; three granddaughters: Renee, Sharon, and Cassie; one grandson: Timothy; five brothers: Otha, Joe, Leroy, Carey, Earl and James; and three sisters: Baby Thelma, Sarah and Annie Lindsey.

Viewing will be held from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at St. James Baptist Church, 19514 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia 22514. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery, Shumansville, Virginia.
